Recently, Apple quietly launched the new generation of iPad mini. Although the official name is iPad mini (A17 Pro), people commonly refer to it as iPad mini 7. It became available for pre-order starting at 9:00 AM on October 17, with an official release date set for October 23. However, Apple did not specify the memory capacity of the new device. Based on its support for the Apple Intelligence feature, it is speculated to have 8GB of RAM.

As the release date approaches, the iPad mini 7 recently appeared on Geekbench, with the device ID “iPad16,2,” sharing the same prefix as the new iPad Pro released in May. The CPU information shows 2+4 cores, a 3.78GHz clock speed, and 4MB of L2 cache. Based on its single-core and multi-core scores of 2817 and 6982, respectively, the A17 Pro chip in the iPad mini 7 is almost identical to the one in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with overall performance about 4% weaker, possibly due to differences in testing environments or system versions. Most importantly, the memory capacity shows 7.73GB, and accounting for system usage and hardware reservations, it’s confirmed to have 8GB of RAM.
It has been confirmed that the A17 Pro chip in the iPad mini 7 has undergone changes in its GPU core count, reduced from 6 cores on the iPhone 15 Pro series to 5 cores. However, it still supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and other advanced features. The Geekbench results also confirmed that the CPU performance is nearly identical to that of the iPhone 15 Pro series, and with 8GB of RAM, this marks a significant performance upgrade for the iPad mini series.The iPad mini 7 offers three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The pricing for the Wi-Fi-only models is 3,999 RMB, 4,799 RMB, and 6,499 RMB, respectively. For the Wi-Fi + Cellular models, the prices are 649USD, 749USD, and 949USD, respectively.
